Synopsis:
One would think that we’ve learned from our mistakes, we’ve evolved to comprehend what kills our planet, what pollutes our earth, bleeds our water and darkens our air, we can’t be more guilty of ignorance as long as we refer ourselves to stone age methods of generating energy for our survival.
Matra power plant in Viconta, in the Heves District, is Hungary’s largest power station that generates electricity by burning lignite (Brown coal). Other than being Hungary’s largest thermal power plant, it has a long political story behind it that reflects the greed of politics over the want of earth’s sustainability.
Putting all that aside, I was recently astounded to know that to this day coal is still our main source of generating electricity, and our dependency on it is increasing day after day, despite advancements in the fields of renewable energy.
